EBC ready for Bye-Election in Debe South
The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) has started its preparations for the upcoming Bye-Election in the electoral district of Debe South.
On Tuesday 4th January, 2022 Returning Officer, Ramawatee Rampersad Ganga Persad was presented with the Writ of Election by Chairman of the EBC, Mark Ramkerrysingh. The Writ of Election, which was issued by Her Excellency, Paula- Mae Weekes, O.R.T.T. gives Mrs. Rampersad Ganga Persad the authority to conduct the election for the EBC in the electoral district of Debe South.
On Monday 3rd January, 2022 Prime Minister Dr. the Hon. Keith Rowley announced that there will be a Bye-election in the Electoral District of Debe South on February 7th, 2022.

Temporary Closure of the Registration Office for Diego Martin
The Elections and Boundaries Commission is advising the public of the temporary closure of its Registration Office for Diego Martin, located at Scott House, 134-138 Frederick Street, Port of Spain, on Monday 3rd January, 2022. The Office is being closed for sanitization.
Persons with confirmed appointments for the Registration Office for Diego Martin for this day ONLY, will be contacted to have their appointments rescheduled.
The EBC apologizes for any inconvenience this disruption of our services may cause, but advises that this closure is necessary in the interest of public health and safety.
Normal operations at the EBC’s Registration Office for Diego Martin will resume on Tuesday 4th January, 2022

Temporary closure of the EBC’s Scott House Offices
The Elections and Boundaries Commission wishes to advise the public of the temporary closure of its Central Electoral Office located at Scott House, 134-138 Frederick Street, Port of Spain on Wednesday 15th December, 2021 for sanitization. The Registration Offices for Port of Spain and Diego Martin will also be affected by this closure.
Persons with confirmed appointments for either the Registration Office for Port of Spain or the Registration Office for Diego Martin on Wednesday 15th December, 2021 will be contacted to have their appointments rescheduled. Due to this unforeseen closure, no transactions can be facilitated at any of these offices.

Check of the results completed in the electoral district of Buccoo/Mt. Pleasant
A check of the results in the electoral district of Buccoo/Mt. Pleasant was conducted at the Lambeau Multipurpose Facility on Monday 13th December, 2021.
These are the votes received by each candidate that contested the election in this electoral district.

In accordance with Election Rule 106 of the Representation of the People Act, Chap. 2:01, a candidate for an electoral district or his agent may, within four days of the declaration of the poll under rule 104, apply to the Chief Election Officer for a check of the results of the poll for that electoral district.
Check of the Results completed in the electoral district of Buccoo/ Mt. Pleasant
No change to the outcome after recounts in THA elections
The recounts have been completed with no change to the outcome of the Preliminary Results.
The Progressive Democratic Patriots’ (PDP) candidate in the electoral district of Buccoo/Mt. Pleasant, Sonny Craig’s vote increased by one, extending his lead to three votes against his opponent Ancil Dennis. In the electoral district of Darrel Spring/Whim, there was no change to the votes received for either candidate at the close of poll. Darrel Spring/Whim was the only electoral district captured by the PNM.
No change to the outcome after recounts in the THA elections
The Progressive Democratic Patriots won the Tobago House of Assembly Elections on Monday 6th December, 2021 winning in fourteen of the fifteen electoral districts.

EBC temporarily discontinues Pilot Project for THA Elections
The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) met with representatives of the media and political parties contesting the upcoming Tobago House Assembly Elections on Saturday December 4th 2021 and subsequently agreed that it will not move forward with its pilot project for parallel data collection at polling stations in the specified electoral districts of Scarborough/Mt. Grace and Mt. St. George/Goodwood on Election Day, Monday 6th December, 2021. The Commission listened to all relevant parties and decided to defer for future elections after there is an opportunity for further consultation.
