The public is hereby notified that Monday 4^th January, 2021 having been designated Nomination Day for the 2021 Tobago House of Assembly and Local Government Bye-Elections, the date and time fixed for the Preliminary Examination of Nomination Papers is, Monday 28^th December, 2021 between the hours of 9: 00 a.m. – 12:00.noon

Nomination Forms for the 2021 Tobago House of Assembly Elections are available here. Nomination Forms for the 2021 Local Government Bye-Elections are available here. These forms are also available at the offices of the respective Returning Officers and at the EBC’s Central Electoral Office, Scott House, 134- 138 Frederick Street, Port of Spain.

Interested persons are kindly requested to make use of this opportunity offered to them at the offices of the Returning Officers for their respective electoral district, to minimize the likelihood of difficulties on Nomination Day.

The Preliminary List of Electors for the 2021 Tobago House of Assembly and the 2021 Local Government Bye-Elections has been posted.

This means that any person, eligible to vote in these upcoming elections can check the Preliminary List of Electors to make sure that their name and address appears correctly. If there is any issue with your name and/or address on the Preliminary List, please visit your Registration Area Office or Registration Area Sub-office to make the necessary changes. For example if you’ve changed your name or changed your address you can, during this Elecotoral Registration period, visit the EBC to make the necessary changes.

Posting of Preliminary List of Electors for the 2021 THA and Local Government Bye-Elections

Members of the public, including persons already registered to vote, are hereby notified that under Section 30 of the Representation of the People Act, Chap. 2:01, Her Excellency, the President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago has issued a Proclamation, which fixed December 17^th, 2020 as the date for the commencement of an Electoral Registration in the twelve (12) Electoral Districts in Tobago and the following five (5) Electoral Districts in Trinidad.

• Arima Central
• Cunupia
• Hindustan/St. Mary’s
• Hollywood
• Morne Coco/Alyce Glen

In accordance with said Section 30 and Registration Rules 52 and 53,  Electoral Registration will be conducted during the period December 17^th to 27^th, 2020.

The purpose of this exercise is to facilitate those persons who:

• Have attained the age of 18 years and over, but who have not been registered as electors;
• Have been registered as electors, but changed address and have not yet advised of this change (of address);
• Have been registered as electors and have changed their name because of marriage, or otherwise, but their previous name appears on the Preliminary List of Electors;
• Have been registered as electors but their names do not appear on the Preliminary List of Electors.

Notice of Election for the 2021 Local Gov’t Bye-Elections FINAL

2020 continues to be a year of firsts as the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) gears up for two, simultaneous elections, the Tobago House of Assembly Elections and the Local Government Bye-elections, both to be conducted on January 25, 2021.

Returning Officers for the Local Government Bye-elections received their writs from Mrs. Roslyn Khan Cummings, Member of the Commission, on Sunday 13th December, 2020. These Writs of Elections, which are issued by Her Excellency, Paula-Mae Weekes, O.R.T.T., gives these Returning Officers the authority to conduct the upcoming elections on behalf of the EBC.

The Elections and Boundaries Commission is required by law, as laid out in Election Rule 4(1) (a) of the Representation of the People Act, Chapter 2:01 to publish in the Gazette and at least one (1) newspaper, the election notices in the form set out as Form No. 35 in the Prescribed Form Rules.
