Press Release – Preliminary Results of the 2025 Parliamentary Elections

The preliminary tabulation and verification of results from the Parliamentary Elections held on Monday,
April 28, 2025, have been completed. With a total registered electorate of 1,153,850 across 41 electoral
districts in Trinidad and Tobago, voter turnout was recorded at approximately 54 %.

Based on the preliminary count, the United National Congress (UNC) has emerged as the leading party in
the parliamentary elections, securing 26 of the 41 constituencies. The People’s National Movement
secured 13, and the Tobago People’s Party secured 2.

The UNC has formally requested general recounts, inclusive of poll cards, in the following constituencies:
1. Arouca/Lopinot
2. Malabar/Mausica
3. San Fernando East

All three (3) recounts commenced at 3:00 p.m. today.

These preliminary results are provisional and remain subject to final validation, pending the conclusion of
the requested recounts.
