Chief Election Officer of Trinidad and Tobago heads CARICOM Election Observer Mission to Dominica

At the invitation of the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will be fielding a CARICOM Election Observation Mission (CEOM), headed by Fern Narcis-Scope, the Chief Election Officer of Trinidad and Tobago, to monitor the General Elections which will be held in that country on Tuesday, 6 December 2022

EBC conducts ID card exercise with Prison Service

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) recently conducted an identification card outreach exercise, at three (3) of the country’s prison facilities in Arouca – the Women’s Prison, Golden Grove Prison/Remand Prison and the Maximum Security Prison.

On Friday 11th November, 2022, a team from the EBC conducted approximately ninety transactions inclusive of renewal of expired identification cards, replacement of lost identification cards and first time registrations. Inmates were also allowed to “collect” their identification cards. Under the law, prisoners are only disqualified as an elector where there is a sentence of death imposed or a sentence of imprisonment exceeding 12 months.

Removal of Appointments for specified transactions at EBC Offices

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) wishes to advise that effective October 25, 2022 only persons applying for a national identification card for the first time will require an appointment. All other transactions, inclusive of previously scheduled appointments, will be facilitated through a walk-in service.

Persons can visit their respective Registration Area Office for any of the following services:

  • Renewal of expired Identification cards
  • Replacement of lost/stolen or destroyed/defaced identification cards
  • Change of name and/or address

Only those persons applying for an identification card for the first time will be required to make an appointment. To amke an appointment to apply for an identification card fo rthe first time, visit our Appointment Portal HERE.

We’re looking for Trainers

The Elections and Boundaries Commission is looking for suitably qualified persons to serve as Trainers for the upcoming Local Government Elections.

Interested persons MUST have previously functioned as:

  1. a Trainer in BOTH the 2019 Local Government Elections and the 2020 Parliamentary Elections; OR
  2. a Presiding Officer in at least three (3) consecutive elections.

Point Fortin Registration Office will be closed at 12:00 pm

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) is advising the public of the closure of its Registration Area Office for Point Fortin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday 7th October, 2022 to facilitate spraying of the facility by the Insect Vector Unit of the Ministry of Health.

All persons with confirmed appointments will have their appointments re-scheduled. Normal operations will resume at the Registration Area Office for Point Fortin on Monday 10th October, 2022.

The EBC apologizes for any inconvenience the disruption of service may cause but gives the assurance that this closure was in the interest of public health.

Normal operations return at the Arima Office

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) is pleased to advise of the resumption of normal operations at the Registration Area Office for Arima & Piarco.

The EBC was forced to close its doors to the public on Wednesday 5th October, 2022 when the Registration Area Office for Arima & Piarco was flooded as a result of the heavy rainfall associated with the passage of Tropical Wave Invest 91-L. The Office remained closed (to the public) on October 6, to facilitate clean up efforts and sanitization.

The EBC apologizes for any inconvenience caused but assures that measures were taken in the interest of public health and safety.

 


Tunapuna Office closes to the public at noon….

The Elections and Boundaries Commission advises the public of the closure of its Registration Office for Tunapuna at noon on Thursday 6th October, 2022.

The Tunapuna Administrative Building, which houses the EBC’s Registration Office will close at noon today and this inadvertently affects our operations.

Persons with confirmed appointments will be contacted to have their appointments rescheduled. Persons visiting this Registration Area Office to conduct any other business are hereby advised of this unforeseen closure.

The EBC apologizes for any inconvenience caused.

Our Registration Office for Arima remains closed

The Elections and Boundaries Commission’s (EBC’s) Registration Area Office for Arima and Piarco will remain closed to the public on Thursday 6th October, 2022.

This Office was forced to close its doors to the public after being flooded as a result of the heavy rains yesterday. Clean up efforts and sanitization is presently underway to resume service as soon as possible.

Persons with confirmed appointments, who have been affected by these closures will be contacted to have their appointments rescheduled. Persons visiting this Office to collect identification cards or conduct any other transactions, are advised not to visit today.

The EBC apologizes for the inconvenience that this closure may have caused and will advise in a timely manner of the resumption of normal operations at the Registration Area Office for Arima and Piarco.


We’re sorry for the inconvenience, but some of our offices are closed

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) is advising of the TEMPORARY closure of three (3) of its Registration Area Offices, due to the inclement weather and other unforseen circumstances.

  • The Registration Area Office for Sangre Grande is closed today as a result of no electricity in the surrounding area;
  • The Registration Area Office for Arima  & Piarco was forced to close its doors due to flooding caused by the prevailing, inclement weather. We will advise of the resumption of normal operations at this Office as clean-up efforts are underway.
  • The Registration Area Office for Tunapuna was affected by the closure of the Tunapuna Administrative Building, which closed all business at noon, today.

We regret the inconvenience that these closures may have caused.
