Notice of early closure of the EBC’s Head Office
The Elections and Boundaries Commission wishes to advise the public that due to the procession of the National Carnival Commission’s Traditional Carnival Character Parade from Memorial Park and along Frederick Street on Friday 9th February, 2024, our offices will be closed to the public from 2:00 p.m.
We regret any inconvenience this closure may cause.
Normal operations will resume on Wednesday 14th February, 2024

The public is advised that the Elections and Boundaries Commission’s (EBC’s) Head Office and ALL Registration Area Offices and Registration Area Sub-Offices throughout Trinidad and Tobago will be closed on Monday 12th February 2024 and Tuesday 13th February 2024.

Notice of Temporary Closure of the Registration Area Office for Princes Town
The public is advised that the Elections and Boundaries Commission’s (EBC’s) Registration Area Office for Princes Town, located at 145 High Street, Princes Town (Corner Naparima Mayaro Road & St. Croix Rd.) will be closed today; Thursday 21st December 2023.
This closure has become necessary due to a malfunctioning Air Conditioning Unit at this office.
The EBC apologises for any inconvenience and advises that this office will resume normal operations in a timely manner.

Notice of Temporary Closure of the Registration Area Office for Couva
The public is advised that the Elections and Boundaries Commission’s (EBC’s) Registration Area Office for Couva, located at 80-82 Southern Main Road, Couva will be closed for the remainder of Wednesday 22nd November, 2023.
This unexpected closure has become necessary to facilitate work to the sewer lines that has disrupted operations at this office.
The EBC apologizes for any inconvenience that this unplanned closure may cause and will advise on the resumption of normal operations at the Registration Area Office for Couva as soon as the repair works have been completed.

Court dismisses UNC’s election petition in Arima Northeast
Mr. Justice Frank Seepersad has today dismissed the election petition filed against the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) relating to the electoral district of Arima Northeast and has ordered the Petitioner to pay the costs of the EBC certified fit for Senior and Junior Counsel.
Mr. Justice Seepersad, in delivering his judgement found that the Petition filed by the United National Congress’ candidate for the electoral district of Arima Northeast, Jairzinho Domingo Gustav Rigsby was hopelessly flawed in that he failed to comply with mandatory provisions of the Representation of the People Act relating to election petitions.

Update on Request for check of the results in Arima Northeast
At the end of the check of the final result of the poll in the electoral district of Arima Northeast, Kim Magdalene Garcia, the People’s National Movement’s candidate, received two (2) additional votes. This result overturns the outcome of the recount, which was conducted during the period August 16th-17th, 2023 and saw the United National Congress’ candidate Jairzinho Domingo Gustav Rigsby being declared the winner.

Fresh elections in Lengua/Indian Walk
Fern Narcis-Scope, the Chief Election Officer, acting in accordance with Election Rule 101(15) of the Representation of the People Act, Chap. 2:01, has certified to the Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Lengua/Indian walk that the second recount, which occurred between August 17th– 18th, 2023 has resulted in an equality of votes cast between the candidates obtaining the most votes. The Returning Officer for this electoral district has declared the election void, pursuant to this certification by the Chief Election Officer, making way for fresh elections.
This historic development, is as a result of the tie in the number of votes received by both the People’s National Movement’s and the United National Congress’ candidates in the Local Government Elections. The outcome remained unchanged after two recounts of the votes cast. Both candidates received 1428 votes each.

Update on Recounts
Today, the results of the recount in the electoral district of Maracas/Santa Margarita were declared and the outcome remained the same as on Election Day, with the PNM’s candidate Trudel Noreiga winning this electoral district.

UNC candidate wins Arima Northeast after recount
The tie in the electoral district of Arima Northeast is broken. The UNC’s candidate Jairzinho Domingo Gustav Rigsby won by one (1) vote.
At the close of the poll on Monday 14th August 2023, both the PNM and UNC candidates each received 623 votes. The PEP candidate received 81 votes.
