The public is advised that the processing of applications from persons eligible to be treated as Special Electors for the upcoming 2021 Tobago House of Assembly Elections starts ton Monday 18th October, 2021 and ends on Monday 15th November, 2021.

 

Not sure if you qualify to be treated as a Special Voter? The full listing of the categories of persons eligible to be considered as Special Electors in any election can be found in this publication, which was also published in the Press.

EBC’s Point Fortin Registration Area Office remains closed to the public

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) wishes to advise the public of the temporary closure of its Registration Area Office for Point Fortin, located at 28 Canaan Road, Point Fortin this afternoon for sanitization. This Office will remain closed to the public until further advised.

All persons with confirmed appointments for this specific Registration Office between will be contacted to have their appointments rescheduled.

The EBC apologizes for the inconvenience that this temporary closure at our Point Fortin Registration Area Office may cause and gives the assurance that all is being done in the interest of public health and safety.

Notice will be given on the resumption of normal operations at this office.

EBC services available via new Appointment System Portal

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) is pleased to announce the resumption of its service to the public at all its eighteen (18) Registration Area Offices and sub offices in both Trinidad and Tobago.

A new online Appointment System Portal is available at https://appointments.ebctt.com to facilitate the following transactions:

  • Application for the first time for a national Identification (ID) card
  • Renewal of expired ID cards
  • Replacement of lost or stolen ID cards
  • Change of name and /or address on ID card

We’re Open to the public with LIMITED SERVICES

The Elections and Boundaries Commission is pleased to advise that ALL our Registration Area Offices and Registration Area Sub-Offices will re-open to the public, for LIMITED SERVICES, on Monday 5th July, 2021.

At this time the following services ONLY will be available:

  • Collection of ID cards, for example, if you previously applied for an ID card, a first-time issue, a renewal or a replacement ID card and you are coming to collect.
  • Replacement of lost/stolen ID cards. If you have lost your ID card and you need to apply for a replacement ID card.

AT THIS TIME NO OTHER TRANSACTIONS ARE BEING FACILITATED.

Please be reminded that ALL Covid-19 protocols must be adhered to whilst visitng our offices. All persons must wear a mask covering BOTH the nose and mouth. You must sanitize your hands before entering our offices and you must maintain physical distancing.

We thank you for your usual cooperation as we continue to be of service to you.

EBC mourns the passing of Commissioner Dr. Noel Kalicharan

The Board of Commissioners and Staff of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) mourns the passing of Dr. Noel Kalicharan, who served with distinction as a Commissioner of the organization since 2008.

As a pioneer in the field of Computer Science in Trinidad and Tobago, “Dr. K” as he was affectionately called by all at the EBC, played a pivotal role in many of the information technology aspects utilized at the EBC today.

Dr. Kalicharan was a simple man. It was his simplicity that made him so well loved and respected. He was known for his vivacious, frank and outspoken manner. He had a clinical eye for detail and his keen analysis added immense value to the Commission, on which he served for thirteen years, until his passing.

As the Chair of the EBC’s Information Technology Steering Committee, Dr. Kalicharan contributed greatly to the development of policies, incorporating international best practice in electoral management information systems. He also had a key role in the design of the EBC’s new national identification card, which utilizes global state of the art security features.

Dr. Kalicharan was serving a third term as a Commissioner of the EBC at the time of his passing. He represented Trinidad and Tobago on CARICOM Observer Missions to Guyana on more than one occasion, the Dominican Republic, Bahamas and St. Kitts and Nevis. Dr. Kalicharan represented the EBC at the Ninth Inter-American Meeting of Electoral Management Bodies in Lima, Peru in 2014 as well as the Thirteenth Inter-American Meeting of Electoral Authorities, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 2018.

His invaluable contributions to the work of the EBC will never be forgotten.

The Board of Commissioners, Management and Staff of the Elections and Boundaries Commission, extend our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Noel Kalicharan.

Further extension to the validity of expired Identification Cards due to the temporary closure of EBC’s Offices

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) wishes to advise that all identification cards issued by the Commission, which are currently expired or due to expire in 2021, will now be valid until December 31, 2021.

This extension of the expiry date of identification cards is instituted in accordance with Registration Rules 31 (5) and (6) of the Representation of the People Act, Chapter 2:01 and is yet, a further extension to that, which was implemented in December, 2020.

EBC closes all its Registration Area Offices

In accordance with the Covid-19 restriction measures stated by the Prime Minister in his Press Briefing today, the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) will close all its Registration Area Offices, effective immediately and reopen to the public on May 24, 2021.

Whilst the EBC realizes the inconvenience that the closure of our offices will cause the decision was taken in the interest of public health and safety. The EBC remains resolute to its commitment to all its stakeholders in the fight against the spread of this virus.

Temporary closure of our Arima Office

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) wishes to advise the public that its Arima Registration Area Office, located at 16-17 Pro Queen Street, Arima will be closed on Wednesday 28th April, 2021 at noon for sanitization.

The Arima Registration Area Office will reopen to the public on Monday 3rd May, 2021. Only persons collecting national identification cards will be accommodated. No other transactions will be conducted until further advised.

All persons with confirmed appointments for the Arima Registration Office will be contacted to have their appointments rescheduled.

Temporary closure of our Chaguanas and Couva/Tab/Tal offices

The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) advises of the temporary closure of both its Chaguanas Registration Area Office and its Couva/Tabaquite/Talparo Registration Area Sub-Office, located at 47 Mulchan Seuchan Road, Chaguanas from April 22-23, 2021.

The temporary closure has become necessary to facilitate sanitization of these offices. All persons with confirmed appointments for these specific Registration Offices between today, Thursday 22nd April and tomorrow, Friday 23rd April, 2021 will be contacted to have their appointments rescheduled.

The EBC apologizes for the inconvenience that the temporary closure of these offices may cause and gives the public the assurance that all is being done in the interest of public health and safety.

Normal operations at these offices will resume on Monday 25th April, 2021.
